Dusit Thani Maldives has launched the first official and internationally approved free-diving centre in the Maldives, an incredible addition to the selection of water sports available at the resort.

Free-diving is a form of underwater diving that relies on the diver’s ability to hold his or her breath until resurfacing without the use of scuba gear. Besides experiencing the tranquility of underwater kingdom, there are various health and fitness benefits attributed to this unique diving activity.

Dusit Thani Maldives’s free-dive centre has joined forces with Apnea Total, a globally renowned free-diving organisation. The Apnea Total Free-diving Education System and Standards are followed at the centre and guests will be provided Apnea Total certifications that are recognized worldwide.

Resort guests will train under the supervision of highly experienced free-dive instructors who have themselves worked and trained under record-holding free-divers. Additionally, the centre boasts world-class CRESSI equipment and the rental cost of these is included in the course price.

The center offers all levels of Apnea Total courses: Free-Diver Basic, Advanced Free-Diver, and Free-Diving Master, each lasting 2 days, 3 days and up to 5 weeks respectively. The Basic course will equip guests to dive safely and comfortably down to 20 meters on a single breath and the Advanced course equips guests to dive down to 40 metres below sea level.

Newly-renovated rooms increase appeal of Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives

Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives is set to a launch a new category of guest room, which will be called “Sunset Ocean Pool Villas.” They have also committed to an ongoing program of extensive refurbishments across the entire resort.

During the first phase of the renovation program, all of the Luxury Sunset Water Villas will be completely refurbished and redesigned and will reopen to the public in July 2015. Twenty of the existing inventory will be re-imagined as ‘Sunset Ocean Pool Villas’ while the balance of 14 villas will be renamed “Ocean Water Villas.”

During phase 2, the current “Beach Suites” on the south side of the island, together with the Deluxe Family Water Villas and the resort’s one-and-two Bedroom Pool Villas, will be closed for renovations from the 20th of June until the end of August 2015. Renovations on the resort’s Deluxe Water Villas and north-facing Beach Suites will be carried out later in 2016. All villas will receive a brand-new design, structural enhancements, all-new furniture and a new light and inviting color palette.

Available to the public on July 1, 2015, the new Sunset Ocean Pool Villas will have received a completely new, contemporary interior make-over, with brand-new furniture, doors and decking.  Indian real estate company, Panchshil Realty has announced the development of a luxury resort in Maldives. The company has already tied up with Marriott International, Inc. for their luxury brand, Bulgari, for the 82-room high-end resort property in Maldives.

According to Atul Chordia, Chairman & CEO, Panchshil Realty, the resort hotel would be ready for operations in the next two years. “We have taken the island on lease from the government and are building a luxury resort. The work has already started and our target for launching the same is 2017,” he said.

Pune based Panchshil Realty is a developer of luxury hotels and properties.
